Hi friends!
Hope that you're all staying well and safe during the lockdown! As a band, we've all noticed that it's pretty easy to let ourselves become a little unhinged in one way or another, and it's certainly not an experience that's unique to just us.
There are a few simple tricks that we can all implement to stay sane and productive, and seeing as how you're all kak bored at home anyways, we thought we'd encourage you all to give these ones a try. They're pretty simple, and will just help you to create some semblance of sanity and routine to keep you going.
1. Take some time every day to create a peaceful and calm space where you can be alone with yourself. It's super important during this stressful and unusual time to take a personal inventory regularly. Whether you're going to meditate, pray, or journal, allow yourself to be honest about your current state and mental health. Just taking the time to ensure you're practicing self-awareness will help to keep you grounded and present. Check out our '21 Days' story highlight, and scroll to the 'Soul Sundays' stories for some inspiration
2. Ensure you're staying active. It can be very easy to get into the habit of staying inside and being lethargic, pretty much just switching between the couch and the fridge (we know, we've all been there. You don't have to be working out all the time, but you should try to do something that works you up a sweat at least every couple of days. Every person, yoga studio, and gym on Instagram is posting their home workouts. You can definitely find one that works perfectly for you! As a starting point, check out Hugo's Fitness Fridays workout on our Instagram, here.
3. Do something to keep both the left and right spheres of your brain firing! That means you need to try to do something every day that stimulates both the logical and creative parts of your brain. Try every day to learn something new about something that fascinates and interests you. Whether that be working towards whatever you're studying, or learning something through an online course, do something to stimulate your brain. We'd also recommend trying to do something creative. Maybe pick up an old hobby, or take the time to learn a skill you've always wanted to, but never quite had the time to do. You can check out Jono's 'Musical Mondays' if you feel like picking up a guitar here.
4. Do something nice for your family or someone you're locked down with! We've been trying in our own houses to spread love and positivity to our families and friends, a challenge that we extended to you as a part of our #keepthelovealive challenge. You can read more about that here. As an idea, why not cook them a meal, check out Greg's 'Whip-up Wednesdays' vegetable dahl recipe & tutorial coming out tomorrow!
Today's Thoughtful Tuesdays isn't anything too intense, we just want to encourage you to start to develop some positive elements of routine in your life, and think about what you do every day. Be considerate of the habits you start to develop in this time, and try to use this period in lockdown to your best advantage, and see the silver lining.
